Lonely for Christmas? How about playing a classic solitaire game of Freecell? You will be delightfully challenged with this puzzly game of cards.

In case you've never played anything else except the classic Solitaire, you must understand that while Solitaire can get pretty difficult it is also of an extreme random nature. In Freecell, you get to see the entire deck of cards at all times and the only thing that stacks against you is the random set up.

As a rule you may move any top card on one of the four free slots (hence, Freecell) or move a sorted (alternating colored cards in numerical order) stack of cards on top of a legal card or in an empty stack space.

You might think it much easier than Solitaire. Yes, you do have more control over the results, but the thing is: you can only move stacks as big as there are free cells plus one. So in order to move that wonderful stack of 5 cards around you will need to have all four card slots available. That increases the difficulty and makes for a highly thinky puzzler. Of course, some set ups can be impossible to beat. For example, having all four aces on the bottom of four different stacks is most likely a lost cause. Still, there's great satisfaction when you do finally get to sort everything out.
